Developing a European planetary health curriculum model for undergraduate health professionals
The aim of this workshop is to explore examples of planetary health curricula development and to examine how best to implement such curricula for undergraduate health professionals across Europe.

Health in Green Deal and Climate Pact
Workshop organised by the European Public Health Association Environment and Health section, EUPHA (ENV) as part of the 14th European Public Health Conference (virtual). The workshop includes several speakers from the ENBEL project.
Public Health Measures to address the impact of climate change on population health
What public health interventions must be implemented over the next five to ten years to mitigate the impact of climate change on public health? This workshop brings together researchers and public health experts to identify how best to translate the findings of climate and health research into international public health practice.

Hot Hot Hot: How can cities adapt to rising heat?
The July 2021 heatwave in the Pacific Northwest of the US and Canada shattered temperature records, led to hundreds of excess deaths and scientists found it would have been virtually impossible without climate change. The latest IPCC AR6 report makes it clear that extreme heat is affecting all land areas and it’s here to stay, regardless of emission reductions, and will get markedly worse without reductions. The urban heat island effect only amplifies these realities in cities where the most vulnerable people also experience highly differential impacts. And yet, heat remains an “under-the-radar” hazard that does not get the same level of attention or funding as other, more eye-catchingly deadly, hazards like floods or typhoons.

Social tipping dynamics for a rapid decarbonization
Professor Ilona Otto from Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change, University of Graz will hold a talk at the People and the Planet - from theory to solution online conference hosted from Lahti, Finland. Otto’s talk is in the session on Crossing boundaries to reach solutions and is entitled: Social tipping dynamics for a rapid decarbonization.
The talk is related to research in CASCADES and ENBEL and beyond on social tipping and human-nature interactions.
The conference will bring together researchers, decision makers and stakeholders from the environmental, health and other sectors.

Side event at COP26 Health Pavilion: Colliding Disasters: adapting to increasing climate and health risks
This session will bring together health and climate researchers with practitioners to discuss adaptation options for key risks at the interface of climate and health.

Side event at EU Pavilion at COP26: Climate change and health in Europe: knowledge development and sharing efforts
Tackling climate change impacts on health requires solid knowledge and evidence-based and equity-oriented solutions in both adaptation and mitigation. We showcase findings of key recent research projects on heat impacts on health; present the EU knowledge-sharing platform - the European Climate and Health Observatory; and discuss sharing knowledge with EU’s neighbours and across policy fields.

12th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH).
The Centre for International Health (CIH) at the University of Bergen (UiB) is hosting the 12th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health from Bergen, Norway 2021.
Researchers and experts from the projects ENBEL, CHAMNHA and EXHAUSTION are involved in track 1, Migration, climate and health.

CHANCE - a new network for climate and health in Africa
ENBEL is inviting relevant African stakeholders to join the new network CHANCE (Climate Health Africa Network for Collaboration and Engagement). This is the first workshop of the network.

Climate and Health: from research to policy in the context of EU and Belmont Forum funded projects
The symposium will overview current research programs and innovative findings from research on heat-related health impacts and adaptation. The symposium will be part of the 33rdAnnual Conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE 2021) that will take place between August 23-26, 2021.

Diarrheal disease risk and extreme weather - AWARD-APR Symposium
Symposium on Addressing Extreme Weather Related Diarrheal Disease Risks in the Asia-Pacific Region

Understanding the physiology behind the impact of heat-stress on pregnant women, childbirth and newborns
The CHAMNHA team held an online inter-disciplinary expert workshop on June 14th, to address an important gap in the research evidence for heat effects on maternal health.

Climate change and health: promoting wellbeing through climate action
This webinar is part of the 5th European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA) webinar series. It presents state-of-the art knowledge on health effects of global warming linked to heat stress and other climate hazards in a European context and discusses how alternative policy options and measures can help safeguarding the health and wellbeing of citizens through climate action.

Time for heat-health action: Updated evidence for effective prevention
The year 2020 was one of the three warmest on record. This year, we must also brace ourselves for a long, hot summer as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates the problems caused by prolonged periods of heat. Join this webinar organised jointly by the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health and the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) Secretariat.
